TikTok Testing New Collaboration Feature for Posts

TikTok is currently testing a new feature called “Collaboration” that allows users to tag and link collaborators in their posts.

In a screenshot shared by app researcher Radu Oncescu, it’s evident that TikTok is developing an option to tag collaborators, linking their profiles to the post details. The SpAndroid team also examined recent code updates, revealing additional insights:

  • Creators will have the ability to invite up to five other creators to collaborate on a post.
  • Users will be prompted to approve collaborator listings and can decline invitations if desired.
  • Users will also have the option to remove themselves as collaborators after the fact.
  • Collaborator posts will be visible on both the creator’s and collaborator’s profiles, but only the creator can edit the post.
  • Each user will be allowed to invite collaborators up to four times per month.

While this feature bears similarities to collaborative posts on Instagram, it could serve as a valuable addition on TikTok. It offers an opportunity to engage with specific audiences, expand reach, and potentially facilitate affiliate campaigns or brand exposure through partner accounts.

Although the feature hasn’t been officially released yet, it appears to be in the final testing phase, suggesting that it will be available soon.
